24/7

Deadline tomorrow? 3 o’clock in the morning and you just need that one article? From home, you have access to all databases and full-text electronic journals 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Digital Library (DL)
There’s a lot you can find with Google (Scholar) but every so often it is only a reference to an article or a single page of full-text. In the DL there are 700 databases, give or take a few, on specific subjects, which can be searched for that one particular article or publication you want to get your hands on.

If you use the search facilities of the DL and the library subscribes to the journal to which you have traced the article (and chances are that you will, for there are 23,500 journal subscriptions), then it’s only a couple of mouse clicks to the full text via UvAlinker.

If you want to know all the ins and outs of the DL, then look here.

UvAvpn
But first you must install the software UvAvpn to connect to the UvA network from home. Keep your UvAnetID* handy, or it won’t work.

And remember, if you see this , you do not have full access ().

* i.e. your student number (on your student card!)
